Die Forschungswerkstatt Kritische Geographie ist eine mehrtägige Veranstaltung, ein Raum für Diskussionen und selbstbestimmtes Lernen. Als Organisator*innen versuchen wir, auf diverse Wünsche und Bedürfnisse einzugehen: ob Neueinsteiger*innen, Studierende, Wissenschaftler*innen und Aktivist*innen – ihr seid herzlich eingeladen!

Dabei richten wir uns nicht nur an Vertreter*innen der Geographie und anderer raumbezogenen Disziplinen (z.B. Soziologie, Raumplanung, Umweltwissenschaften u.w.), sondern an alle mit Interesse an Raum-Themen.

Die Forschungswerkstatt lebt von von den Beiträgen der Teilnehmenden, egal ob es sich um Workshops, Panels, Exkursionen oder andere Formate handelt. Wir bedanken uns für die zahlreichen Beiträge, die uns bis 25.02. vorgeschlagen wurden. Wir arbeiten momentan das Programm aus und werden das vollständige Programm bis zum 15.04.2019 auf dieser Internetseite veröffentlichen.

Eine Anmeldung ist schon jetzt möglich, da sie uns die Planung erleichtert. Im gesamten Programm sind englisch- und deutschsprachige Veranstaltungen enthalten.

Zwei der Workshopteams bitten die Teilnehmenden darum, sich im Voraus der Konferenz mit Einzelbeiträgen bei ihnen zu melden:

Critical Methodologies within Spatial Practices

In pursuit of “ruthless criticism of everything existing”, spatial disciplines are reinventing methodologies in order to understand and discuss space outside and in academia. From artistic to activist and from mobile to ethnographic; new research practices deal with the fleeting and the sensory instead of the precise; focus on more-than-human and more-than-representational rather than human and representational. This session calls forth anyone(s) who is engaged with critical methodologies within their research practices. We initially propose a “formal” 20-minute meeting in an enclosed space where each participant will give a short introduction about their work/research. Encouraging mobility, we will continue our discussion in a walkshop. In the walkshop, we will be walking-talking together on a route within Berlin for 90 minutes. At the end of the walkshop, the group will return to the venue and sum up the discussions. A video of the whole event will be produced afterwards.

Democratic speech and struggles on migration in the city. Reflections on current spaces of Solidarity City Berlin.

When movements encounter complex subjective constellations, there is no easy way to develop communicative spaces and practices that bridge across this heterogeneity. Solidarity City Berlin, an organization that attempts to unite right to the city struggles with migrant struggles, wants to explore the possibility of developing a forum that is able to ignite encounters and dialogues and other formats of democratic speech. What are practices, modes, and formats that induce new temporalities and subjectivities? In the workshop, we want to discuss political spaces – analytically and practically – such as a forum in order to reflect on current strategies and spaces in struggles around right to the city and migration. We encourage other initiatives, researchers or activists to send us proposals for short inputs (5 to 10 minutes) in order to engage in a critical discussion. The workshop will be participatory and after short inputs we will open the discussion to everybody. There will be translators for English, German and French for this workshop. The Critical Geography Research Workshop is an event, an open space for discussion and self-determined learning. As the organizing team, we try to respond to diverse wishes and needs: newcomers, students, scientists and activists – your are cordially invited!

We address representatives of geography and other spatial disciplines (e.g. sociology, spatial planning, environmental sciences, etc.) as well as people interested in questions concerning space.

The research workshop thrives on the contributions of the participants, regardless of whether they are workshops, panels, excursions or other formats. We would like to thank you for the numerous contributions that were proposed to us until February 25. We are currently working on the program and will publish the complete program on this website until 15/04.

Registration is already possible as it makes planning easier for us. The entire program includes sessions in English and in German.
